Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, this blade supports both wet and dry cutting modes.
The segmented design offers inherent advantages in cooling and debris removal:
- The wide gullets allow free flow of air and cooling water, effectively lowering the cutting zone temperature and preventing overheating.
- For wet cutting: Using water or coolant provides maximum cooling, dust suppression, and significantly extends blade life. For continuous, long‑duration cutting (e.g., road grooving, large concrete slabs), wet cutting is highly recommended.
- For dry cutting: The segmented slots also help dissipate heat, but for safety, always use an intermittent cutting technique (cut for about 10–15 seconds, then lift the blade out and let it spin free to cool) to avoid blade warping or premature diamond loss from sustained high heat.
- Match the material correctly: This blade is optimised for concrete, masonry, and similar rough building materials. Do not use it on ceramic tiles, glass, or metal – doing so will cause chipping or premature wear.
- "Break in" new blades: Before your first real cut, make a few shallow passes on a soft abrasive material (like old cinder blocks or sandstone) to expose the diamond grit and prevent initial skipping.
- Avoid forcing the blade: Let the blade's own weight do the work. Excessive pressure causes overheating, warping, and accelerated wear.
- "Sharpen" if glazed: If cutting speed drops and the surface looks smooth ("glazed"), cut a few times through an abrasive block or old brick to re‑expose fresh diamond particles.
- Check arbor size: This 7" (180mm) blade typically comes with a 22.23mm bore and includes a washer. If your machine has a 7/8" arbor, remember to remove the included 22.23-16mm (5/8") washer before fitting.
- Inspect before every use: Always check for cracks, warping, or chips. Never use a damaged blade.
This 7-inch segmented diamond blade is specifically designed for fast, aggressive cutting of rough concrete, reinforced concrete, bricks, blocks, asphalt, and coarse stone. It excels on construction sites, road repair, demolition work, and heavy masonry projects.
Unlike continuous mesh blades (which are made for fine, chip‑free cutting), the segmented blade features wide, open gullets (slots) along its rim. These slots provide large chip clearance, allowing rapid debris and dust removal while reducing cutting resistance. This results in much faster cutting speeds and higher aggression, making it ideal for large‑area, heavy‑duty rough cutting. However, note that the cut edge will be relatively rough and is not suitable for finish work where a smooth edge is required.
